The Ballad of Kerr

Version 2

As the Summer Run comes to a close, it’s time to reflect for just a moment on all the blessings that have been poured out on our lives. That’s not to say that there haven’t been concerns. In writing this I remembered a song from the Dyo album back in 2003. It’s called The Balled of Kerr, and it shares the optimistic view of a dear departed friend (Ed Kerr), that when asked how he was doing, always responded, ‘nothing bad ever happens to me, because Jesus loves me.’ And yes, that’s my youngest (Maddy) singing.

Eddie was a guiding light
A beacon of hope in the darkest night
Whenever the water rose above his head
He smiled and laughed and then he said …
‘Nothing bad ever happens to me’
~ Eddy Mann

September Notes

Version 2
As of this writing, there are still a few Summer Run dates to be completed. I’ve been blessed by the opportunities to share and hang with you all summer, and I’m looking forward to growing in the new relationships that have been a result of those gatherings. If we haven’t caught up yet, there’s still a couple of events left.

This past week Cross Rhythms released a nice review of the Worship in Spirit and Truth album. I really appreciate that they’re embracing diversity in worship music. Check out the review here.

I’m excited about the fall season. There are a number of projects near or completed for release, so keep an eye out for the new sights and sounds. I’ve also got a couple of new ministry opportunities that I’m praying over. Your prayers for clarity are welcome.

Now go, and play nice!

O Lord, that I might live and breath childlike
That I might see through the veil of prestige
That I would be dewy-eyed and candid
Deliver me from myself

O Lord, forgive my scanty and meager ways
So that I may walk the road to true peace
Humbly I pray these words before You
Deliver me from myself

Pour upon me the cleansing love that flows to self-forgetfulness
That I may know a life of rest and calm
Lay upon me the hands of healing that touch the soul of the blind
That I may see a man of meekness

O Lord, hear my prayer of loss and weakness
Hear what burdens lay heavy on my heart
Hear the voice that speaks from deep in my soul
Deliver me from myself

Rise O’ Lord

Be exalted above my comforts
That I may vow to need less
Be exalted above my reputation
That I may soldier on unnoticed

Rise, O Lord, rise above me
Above my dreams, above my love
Above my likes, above my dislikes
Rise, O Lord, rise above
~ E.M.

Just How Good You Are To Me

O God, arouse what defines me
That I may claim a kinship that’s true
Clear my vision that I may see
That I may recognize when it’s you
Tune my senses to your wonder
That I may put breath to your words
O that your Kingdom would be present
That I may walk in it now as in heaven
