Today

Last Sunday was a crisp, fresh day that was filled with worship, fellowship, and wonderfully creative and nourishing meals. Last Sunday I offered my gifts and my love to others. Last Sunday was the day that the Lord had made, and I rejoiced in it!

Each day contains unimaginable joy. We wake each morning to endless opportunities to serve. What we make of those opportunities creates the amount of joy we, and others, will experience. You see the joy is in the giving. The joy is in making others smile. The joy is in making others feel loved.

Last Sunday is today! It’s everyday!

“This (today) is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24 ESV)

Pray on,

A Light is Shining

‘The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it’ – John 1:5 ESV. In our world of every challenging moments, it’s comforting to know that the gloom that often descends on us has never blackened out the light. Hope is in the faith that a spiritual presence is always working behind the scenes for the good of ALL people.

In a land where death casts its shadow
A light is shining bright
Through the darkest despair there’s a promise
Where tomorrow will be alright
Come and sit by the well of assurance
Come where hope is still alive
A light is shining with love and with calmness
And that light is shining bright

Evanesce

What do you enjoy most about writing?

I really enjoy writing as a way to serve creation. I find myself almost daily moved to share the beauty and diversity that’s on display. For me, the satisfaction is in the communication, the entertaining, lifting or enlightening possibility… if only just for a moment.

I Can’t…

What is a word you feel that too many people use?

I just hate to hear someone say I can’t. As in, I can’t do this; I can’t do that; I can’t say that. In a world of ambiguity that word just rings of negativity. Whenever I hear some say I can’t, I hear God say I can.

When you move irrelevant
When you’re the hued elephant
When you hear yourself exclaiming, “I can’t!”

There’s A Lot of You In Me

What are you curious about?

I’m curious as to how the world became so adverse to diversity. We live in a world that’s comprised of different views, different, likes and dislikes, lets call it different colors. And it’s all this diversity that creates all the beauty that surrounds us. If you start to pull the various colors out of the rainbow it’s not as brilliant anymore. My prayer would be that we’d find a connection to what we have in common, and relish in our creative differences.

Cowboy in the Badlands

How would you describe yourself to someone who can’t see you?

I’ve always had an affinity for the old black and white westerns from the late fifties and early sixties. So I’d like to think that being a cowboy in the badlands might describe who I am. After all what I do, will always speak louder than what I say.

You call me cowboy
You call me cowboy in the badlands
In the desert; in the barrens; in the wasteland

Mending the Nets

What traditions have you not kept that your parents had?

Now that I think about it, I don’t think that I’ve dismissed any of my parents traditions… and that makes me smile. You would have thought that I’d have discounted at least a few, but that’s not the case. Then again I’m really big on passing along culture.

Silhouettes sprinkle the horizon
As geese flock down below
Children observe as they gather
It’s the only world that they know
