As summer arrives I find myself in the middle of a quest for balance. Being a naturally disciplined and organized person, it’s very easy for me to allow the structured patterns of my life to remove the randomness. So in between the upcoming scheduled dates I’ll be keeping track of what I do.

I saw a shirtless boy with a bag of donuts
watching the sun come up
As I passed him by between his next mouthful
he smiled and asked wassup?
I could see on his face
the innocence behind his tired eyes
I could hear in his voice
the embarrassment beneath his worn out lies

I saw a homeless mother in a cotton dress
and a pair of old flip-flops
As I walked on by she lowered her eyes
and murmured something ‘bout those shops

I saw a dusty man with a tear in his eye
sitting on the curb
As I drove on by he raised a sign
that said ‘love is a verb’
I could see on his face
the faithfulness behind his tired eyes
I could hear in his voice though he didn’t speak a word

July Notes

The Endurance album continues to touch folks and that’s a blessing. As I’ve said before, it’s not for everyone, but I’m strengthened and encouraged by your positive prayers and responses.

July’s events are all return engagements, which is exciting in that I get to see some familiar faces, and also we get to share some time in fellowship.Check out the schedule below and on the website.

As you may have gathered from my greeting, this month I’m reading a book called A Life of Balance by K.P. Youannan. It’s been reminding me of the importance of keeping things in balance, and how important that is in staying healthy and honoring God.
